Eben Lindsey
PRESIDENT & CEO
Alter ego: The skybound innovator
Hometown: Vancouver, British Columbia
Personal quirk: Spent 2 years living in South America volunteering and consulting while exploring the continent.
With a keen eye for innovative technology and a passion for sustainable energy applications, Eben started his journey with Urban Solar in September 2017 as their Business Development Manager. Over time, he evolved into his current role as CEO, where he thrives on collaborative problem-solving with his team, clients and strategic partners like Tolar and Axentia.

When it comes to leadership, he embraces a philosophy centered around positive impact and personal growth. “Leadership is about having the ability to positively influence those around you,” he explains. Eben practices gratitude daily, which he considers vital for maintaining a positive and constructive work environment. For those leading in the energy sector, he suggests to “Find what you’re really passionate about and focus on that. Work with people around you that have other strengths other than yours.”
A typical day for Eben involves managing product development, addressing market gaps, enhancing Urban Solar’s offerings and stepping in as the CFO. Outside of his professional life, he channels his creativity and balance through paragliding. This passion not only fuels his zest for travel but also reflects his leadership style — helping others soar beyond their limits and have incredible experiences.

Liam Hamel
BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT MANAGER
Alter ego: The international comms maestro
Hometown: Oakville, Ontario
Personal quirk: Nearly launched a snowboard graphics business pre-Covid
Liam Hamel joined Urban Solar in September 2021 after a chance encounter with Urban Solar’s CEO at a school event hosting mock interviews led to a real job opportunity. As the Business Development Manager, Liam’s days consist of outreach, responding to customer inquiries, researching transit upgrade projects in North America and exploring opportunities of how to improve transit spaces with off-grid, bus stop amenities.

Before joining Urban Solar, Liam managed a driving range and pursued a master’s degree in Global Business at the University of Victoria. His studies, which included time in Scotland and Thailand, gave him a deep understanding of cultural differences and enriched his communication skills with international partners.
“Learning about cultural differences and its impact on how people communicate and do business really helps me with our international partners, like Axentia in Sweden,” he explains. Outside of work you can find Liam either playing golf, watching baseball, reading classic fiction or attending a baseball card collectable event.

Eric Bracke
BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT MANAGER
Alter ego: The transit innovator
Hometown: Edmonton, Alberta
Personal quirk: Perennially last place in fantasy football, but still plays every year
In March 2023, Eric joined Urban Solar and brought a wealth of experience from his time at BC Transit with him. Some of which included managing the installation of over 80 shelters across 30 communities. Originally introduced to Urban Solar through his management of BC Transit’s Bus Shelter Program, he saw the impact of improving bus stops first-hand.

In his current role as Business Development Manager for Western North America, Eric spends his days managing existing accounts, pursuing new business and providing comprehensive support to customers. "My goal is to listen to and support customers in improving their rider experience. I enjoy being involved in the initiation of projects that aim to make a positive impact on communities across North America," he says.
Eric’s mechanical engineering and project management skills give him a technical edge in visualizing and supporting custom projects, but his standout customer service and understanding of transit nuances truly set him apart. Outside of work, he enjoys golf, chess, coding in Python and spending quality time with his wife, Jenn. Despite his fantasy football struggles, he’s a passionate Gloomhaven board game enthusiast who’s always up for a new challenge.

Gonzalo Arizcun
DIRECTOR OF OPERATIONS
Alter ego: The supply chain trailblazer
Hometown: Madrid, Spain
Personal quirk: Converted a modular camper into a home on wheels for a year-long adventure
From Madrid, Spain to Vancouver Island, Gonzalo’s life is a testament to his adventurous spirit, passion for the environment and efficient operations. His background in chemical engineering, with a master’s degree and educational research into the impacts of plastics, provided him with a unique perspective on sustainability, which eventually drew him to Urban Solar in May 2023.

“I’ve always been interested in environmental issues and while solar wasn’t in my background, the research work I did in Spain opened my eyes to the importance of sustainable solutions,” he shares. In his role, Gonzalo oversees operations, managing supply chain, inventory and logistics, while coordinating production and ensuring compliance. He also supports the finance team and maintains key supplier relationships.
A world citizen at heart, Gonzalo took a year off to travel with his partner across BC, the Yukon and Alaska, reaching the Arctic Circle before the melting ice roads turned them back. “We realized we enjoyed taking our time and really immersing ourselves into the places we loved, rather than just rushing through,” he reflects. Outside of work, you might find him swimming across a lake, diving into a philosophy book or indulging his inner foodie.

Graham Ball
ENGINEERING MANAGER
Alter ego: The thoughtful tinkerer
Hometown: Victoria, British Columbia
Personal quirk: Became a hobbyist beekeeper during the pandemic
Graham’s trajectory to Engineering Manager at Urban Solar is as unique as the projects he leads. Joining the company in August 2021, he was drawn to the tangible impact his work would create. With a background in environmental technology, a degree in electrical engineering from the University of Victoria and a minor in oceanography, his career has always revolved around off-grid solutions.

Prior to Urban Solar, he worked on equipment designed to monitor the ocean and remote camera systems to track forest fires. Nowadays, Graham’s role revolves around managing and supporting Urban Solar's engineering team while overseeing key processes. He also leads product development focusing on design, research and certification. “What I love about Urban Solar is the tangible difference we’re making. Brightening up a bus stop might seem small, but it’s a positive change in someone’s day,” he says.
As a self-taught tinkerer, he spends a lot of his free time on woodworking projects or using his personal CNC machine to create everything from furniture to custom signage. Whether he’s tinkering, surfing, kayaking or in his veggie garden, Graham’s creativity and connection to the environment shine through, making him a key player in bringing Urban Solar’s designs to everyday life.

Brianna Kerwin
CUSTOMER SUCCESS MANAGER
Alter ego: The solution navigator
Hometown: Duncan, British Columbia
Personal quirk: True Crime podcast aficionado
Brianna's time with Urban Solar began in January 2021 when she joined as a co-op student from the University of Victoria's Business program. Drawn in by the company's sustainable mission, she felt a connection to Urban Solar's unique focus on transit. “Having used public transit everyday since I moved to Victoria 7 years ago, I was intrigued by the company's focus on improving the rider experience,” she shares. In January 2022 she returned full-time, keen to work with like-minded individuals in a team-driven environment.

Brianna thrives on improving the customer experience and making sure things run smoothly from start to finish. Her days are filled with managing orders, projects and communicating with customers or contractors. From leading weekly project meetings to troubleshooting and training sessions, her proactive approach focuses on executing projects smoothly.
Her background in retail and hospitality, combined with a love for data analytics helps her multitask effectively, always keeping customer satisfaction at the forefront. Outside of work, Brianna is an avid hiker and runner, with passion for exploring the beautiful trails of Victoria and Cowichan Valley. She is also a devoted bookworm and fan of true crime podcasts, often starting her day with a compelling mystery.

OPERATIONS AND TECHNICAL SUPPORT COORDINATOR
Alter ego: The sly gadget guru
Hometown: Jakarta, Indonesia
Personal quirk: Comes from a family of mechanical engineers
With a Mechanical Engineering degree from the University of Victoria and inspired by his father's engineering career, Jersey brings a legacy of engineering to the table. Originally from the Indonesian capital of Jakarta, he moved to the metropolis of Singapore when he was 14 years old, followed by the farmlands of Winnipeg and now lives in the vibrant city of Victoria, BC.

Joining Urban Solar in June 2024, a typical day for Jersey involves programming Electronic Control Modules (ECMs), managing purchase orders and connecting with clients for technical support. His career journey includes working with suppliers, a stint as a cook, and co-op experience relative to CAD work, modeling and consulting in the mining and hydro industries.
Outside of work, he enjoys lifting weights, painting and drawing portraits. “My father, older brother and I are all mechanical engineers!”

Satria Brunner
MECHANICAL PROJECT ENGINEER
Alter ego: The 3D printing wizard
Hometown: Jakarta, Indonesia
Personal quirk: Started a coffee cart business with his basketball team at 17
From the sandy beaches of Honolulu to the bustling streets of Jakarta and finally to Victoria, BC, Satria’s journey has been a dynamic one. Joining Urban Solar in January 2024, he was eager to create a solid foundation for his engineering career. His passion for sustainable energy combined with a desire to see his designs come to life, made Urban Solar the perfect fit. "I chose Urban Solar because I wanted to be part of a company where I could see my designs in action in the real world,” he says.

Satria's background in renewable energy paired with marine engineering co-ops and his education at the University of Victoria, where he majored in mechanical engineering and minored in business, have equipped him with a diverse skill set. At the office, you can find him creating detailed engineering drawings, compiling technical documentation for manufacturers or bringing designs to life using the 3D printer. Satria is an expert at ensuring the seamless integration of mechanical components and electronics into our systems.
Outside of work, Satria is a sports enthusiast and a recent aspiring pickleball pro. Aside from sports, you can find him playing Rummy or Crib. Living in 3 different countries has shaped Satria's outlook on life, blending together drive, relaxation and balance.

Tanuyen Nguyen
FINANCE MANAGER
Alter ego: The balance keeper
Hometown: Da Nang, Vietnam
Personal quirk: Her mother’s bravery in bringing their family to Canada inspires her strength
Tanuyen joined Urban Solar in January 2020, bringing 24 years of accounting experience and 19 years in senior finance management with her. From managing monthly billables to overseeing payroll, team benefits, vacation, filing taxes and managing cash flow, her role is pivotal.

With a strong financial background, key positions such as Director of Finance, Controller and Finance Manager helped pave the way to her role at Urban Solar. With a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Alberta, she spent 26 years in Edmonton before making Victoria her home in 2005. Outside of work, Tanuyen finds peace in hot yoga, a practice she’s dedicated to up to 5 times per week.
Tanuyen’s resilience is deeply rooted in her family’s journey from Southeast Asia to Canada. Reflecting on her mother’s courage in bringing her and her brother across the ocean, she draws strength from that experience. "If my mom could take my brother and me across the ocean, nothing else seems that bad," she says.

Arlene Stephenson
ACCOUNTING AND ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT
Alter ego: The financial ace
Hometown: Victoria, British Columbia
Personal quirk: Her tattoos serve as an autobiography to her life’s story
Arlene joined Urban Solar in May 2021, drawn to the flexibility and growth opportunities that come with working at a dynamic, fast-paced company. With a diverse teaching career that took her to England, Japan and Kuwait, Arlene brings a wealth of organizational skills like attention to detail and adaptability to her role. “The ability to learn and grow while working closely with a tight-knit team is something I truly value,” she shares.

At Urban Solar, Arlene manages invoicing and communicates with customers to ensure smooth financial operations. Her teaching background has proven invaluable. “In teaching, you learn to expect the unexpected, and that mindset has really helped me here,” she notes.
Outside of work, Arlene enjoys tending to her garden, where she grows tomatoes, carrots, and pumpkins, and loves experimenting with preserving and canning her harvest. A tattoo enthusiast, she uses her ink to commemorate significant life experiences and family connections.

Langen

Hometown: Vancouver, British Columbia
Personal quirk: Lived in Peru for 5 years
From the coastal shores of Vancouver Island to the realm of green energy, Jacqueline’s path reflects her passion for the natural world and journalism. Joining Urban Solar in June 2023, she was drawn to supporting a sustainable lifestyle.

Prior to Urban Solar, Jacqueline’s professional career spans across various industries including travel, IT, dermacosmetics, health and wellness. Her journalism degree laid the groundwork for her expertise, providing her with essential skills in interviewing, writing, editing and photography. “Studying journalism provided me with the practical, real-world skills that I continue to apply throughout my career,” she explains.
Jacqueline’s typical day includes crafting various marketing materials ranging from website content to case studies, content strategies and more. When she’s not crafting content, you can find her surfing the waves of Tofino, BC, beachcombing at sunset or at a salsa dance class. An interesting tidbit about Jacqueline is her 5-year stint living in Lima, Peru, where she kick-started her journalism career, rented her first apartment, started surfing and became a fluent Spanish speaker.
