TriMet, Portland, Oregon

The Tri-County Metropolitan Transportation District of Oregon, or TriMet, is a public agency that operates mass transit for most of the metropolitan area of Portland, Oregon. In Portland, more people are using public transit, with transit use growing faster than automative use. TriMet has responded to this increased demand by investing in 55 new Eco-Friendly buses, with plans for 70 more.

TriMet’s mission is to support riders through innovations in technology and smarter systems and to develop eco-friendly lines.

In 2009 Urban Solar designed and installed solar powered bus shelters and stops to provide security lighting, reduce pass-by’s and remove hiding places.

“… [Portland is] considered one of the most influential voices—if not the model—for American transit.”
